Taylor Swift and James Corden lead star-studded cast for film version of Cats musical

Taylor Swift is one VERY busy woman - not only does she have a new album coming out next month, but she finished off a world tour last November and has various other shows to promote the new album.

But that hasn't stopped her jumping at the chance to be involved in an upcoming film version of Cats! Taylor is starring in the new film, a trailer for which has now been released - watch below.

Prior to the release of the trailer - which was released a day early - Universal unveiled a behind-the-scenes clip for the film which has got fans of the musical VERY excited.

The three-minute video is called 'CATS - A Look Inside', and reveals that the cast is absolutely incredible for the film, which will be directed by Tom Hooper, best known for helming the 2012 epic musical film Les Misérables, as well as The King's Speech and The Danish Girl.

Taylor leads the cast which also includes James Corden - who himself is having a busy year bringing back the beloved TV series Gavin & Stacey for a Christmas special - as well as Idris Elba, Dame Judi Dench, Jennifer Hudson, Rebel Wilson and Jason Derulo, with Sir Ian McKellen also set to star and the introduction of Royal Ballet principal dancer Francesca Hayward in her feature film debut.

IMDb states that Idris will be taking on the role of the mysterious Macavity, Rebel will play Jennyanydots, Dame Judi is Old Deuteronomy, Sir Ian is - of course - Gus The Theatre Cat, James will be Bustopher Jones, Taylor will play Bombalurina, Jason will be Rum Tum Tugger and Jennifer will play Grizabella and take on the wonderful song 'Memory'.

According to an official statement from Universal Pictures, the film 'reimagines the musical for a new generation with spectacular production design, state-of-the-art technology, and dance styles ranging from ballet to contemporary, hip-hop to jazz, street to tap.'

Original writer Andrew Lloyd Webber is executive producing the film along with Steven Spielberg, who is also heading up a remake of musical West Side Story starring Baby Driver's Ansel Egort.

IMDb states that the film is currently in post-production, and has a tentative release date of 20th December 2019.
