The world has been abuzz with the rumour that Luther actor Idris Elba could be taking over the iconic role of James Bond after Daniel Craig finishes his 12-year run as the character. And he hasn't done anything to quash the rumours - instead fanning the flames at pretty much every chance he gets.

First, he posted a selfie with the caption, 'My name's Elba, Idris Elba' - a clear reference to 007's famous catchphrase, 'The name's Bond, James Bond.' THEN he played the famous soundtrack at the start of a festival set recently, sending fans wild.

However, he shut the rumours down once and for all at last night's premiere (21st August) of his directorial debut film, Yardie, walking the carpet with his fiancée Sabrina Dhowre.

In an interview with Good Morning Britain’s Divya Kohli, Idris made no bones about the fact that he would not be taking on the role. When asked whether he liked a Martini shaken or stirred, he replied, "Stir fried, actually!"

And when she directly asked him whether she was looking at the next 007, he immediately said, "No!"
