The Chainsmokers surprised everyone earlier this year at The BRITs when they joined forces with Coldplay for 'Something Just Like This'. Now, speaking to a US radio host, they have revealed how the collaboration came about.

Speaking to Howard Stern, Alex Pall (one half of The Chainsmokers), said he thought Chris Martin was one of the most brilliant songwriters they have worked with.

When Howard quizzed Alex on what comes first, the music or the words Alex replied, "we played something for him Chris Martin, which really resonated with him," talking about the piano chords you can hear in their hit song.

Alex went on to describe how Chris "took a mic, plugged it into the PA system" and then "danced around in the living room, for like 2.5 hours"!

The DJ then explained how he couldn't remember Chris writing anything down, as he came up with the words, "mumbling the entire song".

After some time Chris then sat down with some headphones on and just wrote the entire first verse, with Alex and fellow member of The Chainsmokers Andrew Taggart tiptoeing around him!

Alex then explained how both he and Andrew both had to cancel a date night, something they "rarely get", but it was well worth it as the song reached number 2 in the UK, and was top 10 around the world, being certified Platinum in 10 countries.
