Charli XCX has been forced to cancel her scheduled performance at Japan’s Summersonic Festival following doctor’s orders.

The singer was on the festival’s Saturday line-up but took to her Instagram to explain she’s ‘been seriously ill for the past couple of days with really bad tonsillitis and fever.’ Charli continued ‘I haven’t been able to leave my hotel room at all. I passed out when going through security in Beijing and I’ve since had injections/been on antibiotics but nothing is making me better.’

The ‘Boys’ hit maker told fans ‘I can’t even explain to you how excited I was to be in japan. I love performing here.’ But doctors told the singer she couldn’t perform, posting on Instagram ‘this morning the doctor told me I cannot perform without doing more damage to voice and health. I am so so sorry to Summersonic.'

The singer is now back home being looked after by her mum!

Get well soon Charli!
