Elton John has opened up about what the future holds for him after his 'Farewell Yellow Brick Road' tour, which is set to finish next year.

The 75-year-old joined Fleur East, James and Matt on Hits Radio Breakfast and admitted he can't continue to tour.

What does Elton John have planned after his final tour?

The singer, who started playing professionally at the age of 17, explained: "It will be 59 years by the time I finish (touring). I'm really, really adamant that I'm not touring again. I can't."

So, when Fleur asked what's next, Elton replied: "Who knows? Like who knows, life is full of surprises, and I wasn't expecting to do a record this year, and look what happened! So, that's the great thing about life. It's one phone call, like The Lion King, that changed my life."

Elton went on to reveal: "After next year, when I finish in Stockholm, I’ll go on a bit of a hiatus and figure out what I’m going to do next.

"It won’t be performing, it will be… who knows. There’s a documentary coming out next year, there’s so much… I have a musical coming out next year, I have a music coming out this year, which I’ve written with Jake Shears from the Scissor Sisters.

"So, I like to keep myself busy, but music for me is the most incredibly healing and fabulous thing, so… my whole life has been in music."

Elton John on working with Britney Spears

The music icon, who has recently released his epic collab 'Hold Me Closer', with Britney Spears, also alluded to the possibility of a feature on another artist's song. "I probably won’t release anything next year, but who knows," he said.

"If I get an offer from somebody, you never know. I might do something on someone else’s record, but not on mine…" 👀

During the interview, Elton also revealed how the unlikely collab with Britney Spears came about. Admitting it was actually his husband and manager, David Furnish, who suggested pop icon, Britney, he said: "It was David, my manager and husband, who said ‘how about Britney Spears doing it?’ and I went ‘you know what, that’s one of the most brilliant ideas ever!’

"No one would have thought of Britney and you know, we’ve been kind of in a Britney bubble, because we’ve watched the documentary, and been following what’s happened to her."
