It's been quite the year for George Ezra so far. Not only has he released his comeback single 'Anyone for You (Tiger Lily)', and announced his upcoming album 'Gold Rush Kid', along with the special edition, he has now released another song called 'Green Green Grass'.

When is 'Green Green Grass' out?

The song was released on 22nd April, along with the lyric video, on the same day that he announced a UK arena tour. The lyric video stars George as he is driving along a road with two women partying in the back.

Is there a music video for 'Green Green Grass'?

Yes, there is an official music video for 'Green Green Grass', George released the video on 4th May. Filmed in LA, the video features George singing to camera as a heist is going on in a diner around him. The two women holding up the diner, then make a quick get away, eventually stopping in the middle of nowhere, where they dig a hole in the green grass to bury the money.

The video ends with the credits rolling as George starts to dig up the stash.

What was the inspiration for 'Green Green Grass'?

With lyrics like 'Green green grass, blue blue sky, you better throw a party on the day that I die,' the song is about making the best of things, even when it might feel like the worst of things are afoot.

Speaking about his new song, George has revealed the inspiration for it came when he was on holiday in St Lucia. It was Christmas 2018 and he was with some of his closest friends, when he heard some loud music coming from another part of the island.

"After about half an hour, I had to go see what it was," George explained: "And there was a street party going on, with three different sound systems, people cooking in the street. I asked a woman what was going on and she told me it was a funeral – for three people. They were celebrating three lives! I thought: that is not how we do this at home. And it’s really beautiful."

How did George announce 'Green Green Grass' would be his new single?
