Artists including Kanye West, Rihanna and Beyonce have changed their profile pictures blue to promote Jay Z’s new streaming service, Tidal.

Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and Jay Z himself are among other artists to show their allegiance to the campaign.

The musicians have all replaced their Twitter profiles and header images with blank blue pictures to support the new Spotify rival.

Tidal was originally launched in October 2014 by Norwegian company Aspiro, before it was bought by Project Panther Bidco, a firm acquired by Jay Z earlier this month.

The streaming site’s key selling point so far has been its ‘lossless’ CD quality streams, which the company will charge £19.99 a month for – double the price of its rivals.

The company’s website has been counting down to 10pm BST today, at which it is expected that Jay Z will announce his plans for the streaming service.

In a recent press release, the company described Tidal as “a single destination for artists and fans to share ideas, exclusive content, songs, videos, studio sessions, rough tracks, personal conversations and more”.

Tidal will compete with other streaming services such as Spotify, Deezer, and other streaming services including Apple’s rumoured Beats Music Project.
