PSY's Gangnam Style Set For Number One?!

It's climbing the midweek charts!

Published 20th Nov 2012

South Korean comedy rapper PSY is storming the charts this week with his brilliantly bonkers song ‘Gangnam Style’.

!Since the hilarious video was uploaded onto YouTube back in July it has gone viral, racking up over 227million views - and at a current rate 10million clicks a day.

The spoof ‘Gangnam Style’ video sees a dapper-looking PSY (real name Park Jae-Sang) do his trademark ‘horse riding dance’ to his gloriously madcap track.

Finally available to download in the UK, the K-Pop (Korean Pop) track is being lapped up by fans and has climbed that charts from number 37 at the start of the week to number 6.

It’s currently selling more than 8,000 copies a day – the same as current chart-topper ‘Hall of Fame’ by The Script ft, will.i.am – and is almost certain to leapfrog Pink and Taylor Swift into the top five by Sunday.

‘Gangnam Style’ has already hit the top spot in South Korea, Finland, Latvia and Malaysia and 34-year-old PSY is now hoping to replicate that success here.

PSY has been making music since the turn of the millennium and has released six albums to date.
