At the end of August, The Script announced they would be releasing a brand new single on 2nd September, and the track is out now. The song, which the band has been playing at some gigs on their 'Greatest Hits Tour', is called 'Dare You To Doubt Me'.

Sharing a snippet of the song playing over concert footage, the band said: 'Our brand new single Dare You To Doubt Me is out everywhere now! This one is for you guys, let us know what you think 💚🤘'.

Speaking about the new song, Danny said: "With everything going on in the world we want to spread a positive message that no matter how hard things are, we’ll all come out the other end bigger, better and stronger. Don’t think so? Well, I dare you to doubt me!"

Ahead of the song's release, The Script had made the exciting announcement by sharing a photo of the band sitting on bikes covered in fairy lights, they wrote: 'Dare You To Doubt Me! New single out this Friday... BOOM! 💥 If you came to a show recently you might already know this one. Pre-save it via the link in bio now.'

It's been a while since we've had new music from the band, who are best known for their hits, 'The Man Who Can't Be Moved', 'Hall of Fame' and 'Superheroes', so fans were understandably thrilled by the news.

Although The Script haven't released a music video for their new song yet, fans have shared videos of them performing it live on tour. A YouTube user called Marie D uploaded their performance in Dublin earlier this year, and the fans' reactions to it have been one of excitement.

One fan wrote: 'Love this song 😍 I can’t wait for the new album to come out this is such a beautiful song 😍 ', while another commented: 'Can’t wait for this song to release sounds like a very heartfelt song I’m jealous you got to see it live must’ve been amazing thanks for posting it :)'.

Now take a look through facts about The Script:

1) Danny O’Donoghue and Mark Sheehan had been best friends since they were 12

They used to be in boyband Mytown together, put together by none other than Louis Walsh!

2) Danny and Mark produced songs by Britney Spears, Boyz II Men and TLC

They lived in Los Angeles together, and had a call from Danny's future co-star on The Voice will.i.am, who requested a song for Britney's 2013 album 'Britney Jean' - and they co-wrote 'Now That I Found You'!

3) 'If You Could See Me Now' was written in memory of Danny's late father

Danny's dad Shay sadly passed away on Valentine's Day in 2008, six months before the band's hugely successful self-titled debut album. He has a rose tattoo in memory of him.

4) The band name was inspired by the time they spent living in LA

Apparently, everyone was always talking about film scripts, and the pair would often joke and say: "What's the script?" instead of: "What's up?"

5) Danny apparently shared his pay from The Voice with his bandmates

Danny was a judge on The Voice for the first two series of the show in 2012 and 2013.

6) When he was 17, Danny accidentally spilled wine over The Edge

That's the U2 guitarist, by the way. U2's manager also managed Danny, and the groups spent time together one evening - during which Danny got rather inebriated and fell down a flight of stairs in front of Bono!

7) They once spent a whopping £22k round on drinks for 8,000 people

They told us all about it in November 2019. Mark explained: "Last year when we did the Freedom Charter we bought the biggest round of drinks in history," he explained, as his bandmate Danny added: "Yes, 8,000 drinks - do you know how much the bar bill was? £22,000. Imagine me waking up the next morning and checking my wallet, I was like, 'Oh no'."

8) All of their studio albums have been to Number 1 in Ireland

That's 'The Script' (2008), 'Science & Faith' (2010), '#3' (2012), 'No Sound Without Silence' (2014), 'Freedom Child' (2017) and 'Sunsets & Full Moons' (2019).

9) The Man Who Can’t Be Moved spent over a year in the UK charts

63 weeks, to be exact!
