Years & Years' Olly Alexander reveals his favourite song to perform on stage 😍

Years & Years' Olly Alexander joined us backstage at Hits Live Birmingham on Saturday 20th November, where he revealed some Bake Off goss, his pre-show ritual and which song is his favourite to perform on stage.

"It's a bit of an obvious answer," Olly told Fleur, James and Matt. "But I do love 'King' because it's my most well-known song."

The singer went on to explain: "Everyone sings along and it's just like such a party every time, but I still get such a kick like any song to perform, and the audience enjoys it and they're singing the lyrics.

"It is the best feeling ever! And it's been so long since I've done something like this. So, I'm really looking forward to it."

Olly also told how he warms up his amazing vocals backstage, before hugging everyone. "My pre-show ritual is just to hug everybody that's going on stage with me, my singers, my crew, and just have a good time. There's nothing else really," Olly revealed. "Maybe a water, stay hydrated."

When pressed by Fleur about who he'd like to work with on the Hits Live Birmingham line-up, Olly said: "Everyone"! Admitting that he's knows Becky Hill "quite well". That would be an amazing collab. 🤔

Olly joined the Hits Live Birmingham line-up at Resorts World Arena, alongside Anne-Marie, Rag’n’Bone Man, Tom Grennan, Becky Hill, Dermot Kennedy, James Arthur, KSI and The Wanted.

Back in March, Years & Years announced they would be continuing as a 'Olly solo project'. They released a statement at the time saying: 'Dear Y&Y fans 💕

'There’s been some changes that we want to fill you in on. This upcoming new album has been an Olly endeavour and we’ve decided that Years & Years will continue as an Olly solo project. The three of us are still good friends. Mikey will be part of the Y&Y family and play with us live and Emre will focus on being a writer/producer.

'These past twelve months have been crazy for us all and we want to thank you for the love and support you’ve given us over the years (& years). ✨

'New Y&Y music will be coming this spring. 🌟'. (sic)

Olly's favourite song to perform on stage 'King' has had a massive 258 million views on YouTube and has been certified 3× Platinum in the UK as well as reaching Number 1 in the UK.
