Earlier this month it was reported that Friday hosts on This Morning, married couple Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes, were being axed from the show and replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.

Despite all parties keeping silent on the matter for a number of weeks, following ITV's official announcement of the changes on Monday 30th November, Ruth has now spoken out, revealing herself and Eamonn will be back!

Re-sharing This Morning's official post, Ruth seemingly has no hard feelings about leaving the show on a Friday, wishing Alison and Dermot the very best of luck.

Ruth told fans, 'It’s a changing of the guard on Fridays from January. We hope you make Alison and Dermot as welcome as you’ve made us over the years. Have a Ball you two!

'It’s not Goodbye from us, it’s simply Au Revoir until the next half term.' (sic)

As Ruth confirmed in her message, herself and husband Eamonn haven't been axed from the show, they will still be on our TV screens during school holidays when main hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield take a break. '

ITV officially confirmed the news of the changes on Monday afternoon, writing online, 'We are pleased to announce that Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary are set to join the This Morning family as regular hosts.

'The dynamic duo will share hosting duties with Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby, Eamonn Holmes OBE and Ruth Langsford from January 2021.'

Despite the change-up at ITV, it seems fans of This Morning are a little divided over the new hosts.

Some viewers were over the moon to have Alison and Dermott become a more regular fixture, writing, 'Alison Hammond... WE LOVE TO SEE IT X'. Another then wrote, 'Yes! Love Alison and Dermott, can't wait!' (sic)

However, others admitted it was a 'mistake' to axe Ruth and Eamonn. One fan wrote, 'Won't watch on Friday if Ruth & Eamonn aren't there 😞', with another writing, 'I ll be watching less!!! Love love love Ruth and Eamonn❤️🔥 they where (are) fantastic!!! Hugh loss and mistake on itvs part!! It was always my favourite day a Friday 😍'. (sic)

Another then added, 'Don’t push Eamonn and Ruth out is all I ask as I shan’t be watching if you do. They are real! 🙌'. (sic)

Managing Director, ITV Daytime, Emma Gormley said, “We are delighted that Alison and Dermot will be joining the main presenting family on This Morning. Alison has provided some of the most memorable moments on the show in recent times and teamed up with the brilliant Dermot we think they are a great pairing in addition to our fabulous presenting line up of Holly & Phil and Eamonn & Ruth.”

The new changes will come into place in January.
