Fans of Celebrity Big Brother were left absolutely distraught after Channel 5 announced that the summer 2018 series would be the last ever. After beginning in 2001, Celebrity Big Brother show bosses announced in a statement in September that it would not be returning in January 2019 - and neither would the civilian version.

Of course, viewers were devastated - but previous winner of the show and presenter of sister show Bit On The Side Rylan Clark-Neal has now teased that the show COULD return after all. Taking to Twitter last night (29th Nov), Rylan posted a rather cryptic tweet which simply read, 'Big Brother is always watching....'

Obviously, fans of the show lost it, with many replying to the tweet with messages of incredulity. One wrote, 'Feel like you’ve been given some VERY big news...' as another added, 'Omg please don’t tease us. Let’s hope @bbuk is coming back with a celeb edition again in January.'

Another added, 'RYLAN CLARK NEAL! Tell us what you know now!' as one other tweeted, 'Oooh what do you know that we don't....🤔. Is it coming back, is it, is it??' sic

Production company Endemol Shine UK announced the sad news in September in a statement which read, 'We are incredibly proud of Big Brother which has consistently been the highest rated show for Channel 5 over the past seven years, with the latest series of Celebrity Big Brother being the channel’s highest rating show of the year, growing its’ audience year on year by 17% and tripling the channel’s slot average for 16-14s.

'This performance is credit to the fantastic production team, plus Emma, Rylan, Marcus and the many housemates over the years who have delivered so many unmissable series. Big Brother continues to be a global phenomenon.

'The UK is one of 20 countries where the show ill air in 2018, including the US where Celebrity Big Brother was recently renewed, four different versions in India and last month’s Celebrity Big Brother in Germany which saw a rise of 85% series on series.

'Whilst disappointed not to reach an agreement with Channel 5 the decision opens up a new chapter and we are excited about future possibilities for Big Brother in the UK.'
