Brooke Vincent and Mike Toolan give Luca advice as he has his Coronation Street debut
Mike's son Luca plays bad boy Mason
Last night (2nd October), Mike Toolan's son Luca made his acting debut on Coronation Street. The 19-year-old landed his new job last month, surprising his dad, Hits Radio Drivetime presenter, and has now had his first speaking scene.
Luca plays the role of 'bad boy' student Mason Radclyffe, and will be on the iconic soap for at least six months, as part of a storyline around tackling bullying in schools.
Chatting to Caroline Whitmore on Granada Reports, Luca said: "It's incredible, I feel so lucky." When asked who he had been most nervous about meeting, he said: "It has to be Barbara Knox - Rita - she's the queen.
Luca was then asked if his dad had given him any advice, to which he replied: "No!" However, when he received a perfectly timed video call from dad Mike, and his co-host, and former Corrie star Brooke Vincent, she offered the budding actor some advice.
Brooke told Luca: "Luca, you are going to have a ball, I can already see it, it's such a nice place to work. The dinners are always nice, the canteen is amazing... that's the best thing! If it's got good coffee, and good food, and good people Luca, you'll always want to go back!"
Mike told us previously that he was very excited about his Luca joining Coronation Street, saying: "He has worked every hour studying every great School of Acting, analysing performances on TV and signed up to every acting class within a 30 mile radius.
"To join a TV show that he has watched since a kid, and that his Granny's favourite show (she’s watched every episode) is an absolute dream come true."
We're looking forward to seeing more of Luca on screen!
