Louis, who's also the son of actors Denise Welch and Tim Healy, will be playing a character called Danny, with official Emmerdale information saying that 'he will befriend Sarah Sugden who quickly becomes smitten with him. But is he as he seems?'

Joining Louis in a spate of episodes will be comedian Tommy Cannon, best known as one-half of the comedy duo Cannon and Ball with his long-time collaborator Bobby Ball.

The Emmerdale team have revealed that Tommy will be playing the role of Derek, who will be a 'regular patient of resident Doctor Manpreet Jutla', played by Rebecca Sarker. Although show bosses do not wish to confirm the full nature of his storyline, they have teased that his arrival in the village will have 'consequences' for other characters.

This won't be Louis' first time on the set of a TV show, as he's already had roles in Vera this year, as Scott and Bailey in 2016 and two extra roles in Doctors in 2010 and 2015.

Emmerdale airs every weeknight at 7pm on ITV, with a second showing on Tuesday nights at 8pm.
