The second contestant for the new series of Dancing On Ice has just been confirmed and Eurovision fans will be excited to hear that it is former singer and TV presenter Cheryl Baker.

Cheryl made the announcement on social media this morning saying 'The secret's out - I'm a contestant on @dancingonice #2018'.

She went on to say that she had had her first lesson and (unsurprisingly) had fallen over! It's still early days though as the show isn't due to air until early next year.

The official Dancing On Ice Twitter account then responded encouraging the TV presenter saying, 'We have faith in you!'

Fans of the show have already taken to Twitter to express their excitement at seeing the 63-year-old take part in the show, with one fan saying 'Amazing news. I'll be voting' and another wishing Cheryl 'good luck'.

Cheryl made a name for herself as part of the 80s pop group Buzz Fizz, who were the UK's winning Eurovision entry in 1981 with their infamous dance routine. The routine for 'Making Your Mind Up' featured the men in the group whipping off the girls' skirts at one point.

Since the group went their separate ways she has been a TV presenter appearing on Record Breakers in the 90s and featuring on Celebrity Mastermind in 2013. She has also continued to tour intermittently with her old group.

Cheryl is the second contestant for Dancing On Ice to be confirmed following yesterday's announcement that Coronation Street actress Brooke Vincent would be taking to the rink early next year.

In addition to the two confirmed contestants Hollyoaks star Stephanie Waring and Love Island's Kem Cetinay have also been rumoured to be joining the line-up.

So far four judges have been confirmed for the show, including Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean as head judges, Ashley Banjo and returning judge Jason Gardiner.

Dancing On Ice first hit TV screens nine years ago with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield presenting the show together until 2011; after that Christine Lampard took over from Holly between 2012-2014.

For the past three years Dancing On Ice has been on a break, much to many fans disappointment, however earlier this year it was announced it would be returning very soon with a big twist.

Since the show started we've seen winners such as Ray Quinn, Matthew Wolfenden, Suzanne Shaw and Beth Tweddle.

The new series is due to start in January 2018.
