Simon Cowell to SCRAP The X Factor theme tune because it's 'one of the worst'

It's an iconic part of the show!

There are certain TV shows that are totally synonymous with their theme tune - Friends, I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and EastEnders, to name but a (random) few. Another one is, obviously, The X Factor, which has been gracing our screens since 2004.

However, the show will not be returning this year as we know it - and will instead come back in two forms: a Celebrity X Factor and an X Factor: All Stars edition, thanks to show boss Simon Cowell fancying a bit of a mix-up.

But apparently that's not the only thing he's changing about the show, having recently revealed that he's looking to get rid of the iconic X Factor theme tune and replace it with something entirely new.

It's being reported that Simon recently confirmed they're "scrapping" the theme song because he can't "listen to it again". He added that it's easy to "get into a habit", but called it "one of the three worst theme songs" he's ever heard.

The music mogul then added that he's currently asking around Los Angeles in the US to see if anyone is available to write something new for the show, confirmed that he's envisaging X Factor in the same vein as Bond films, and to have a new theme every year.

Steve Brookstein, series one, 2004

Things went downhill super quickly after the high of winning the first ever series of The X Factor, and Steve's still bitter… even now, 12 years later. He's written a book about it called Getting Over The X. Come on now Steve, perhaps you should give it a read.
These days he's more into childish rants on Twitter about, well, pretty much everything except making music. He did release an album in 2014, and just to show he's moved on he called it Forgotten Man. It didn't chart.

Although the thought of a brand new Bond-style theme tune each year is very enticing, The X Factor just wouldn't be the same without the original jingle!
