It's been a long time in the making, but Amazon Prime Video's brand new drama The Rig has finally arrived. Featuring Scottish actor Martin Compston, the hugely-antipcated new series landed on Friday 6th January.

Expressing his excitement at the launch, Line of Duty star Martin told fans online: 'It’s here! All six episodes of ‘The Rig’ now available on @primevideouk and @primevideo across the globe. As the great @mark_bonnar says ‘Eventually the earths gonna punch back” 👊🏻🔥'. (sic)

What is The Rig?

Filmed exclusively in Scotland, The Rig follows a group of oil rig workers from the Kishorn Bravo oil rig in the choppy waters of the North Sea.

Just moments before the crew are scheduled to fly back to the mainland, they are cut off from all communication with the outside world as a mysterious and all-enveloping fog rolls through.

Vigil star Martin Compston will be playing the role of Fulmer Hamilton and Mark Bonnar as Alwyn Evans.
