Drivers in Lancashire are being advised the northbound M6 is currently closed between junction 32 at Broughton interchange and junction 33 at Galgate following a serious incident earlier this afternoon (Tuesday 23 April 2024).

National Highways is working at the scene to manage traffic following the incident which happened at around 3.30pm. It is likely the carriageway will be closed beyond this evening’s peak travel period.

Drivers are advised to avoid this section of the M6 if possible by delaying journeys or seeking alternative routes. A diversion is in place using the northbound A6 via junction 1 of the M55 at Broughton but it is likely to be busy for several hours given the time of day.
