Most people think of the sandwich as the usual two average slices of bread and a filling, but here are a few that broke some records.

Largest Sandwich

In 2005 Wild Woody’s Chill and Grill, Michigan created the largest ever sandwich. It weighed 2,467.5 kg and was 5.34m thick, 3.6m long and 3.6m wide. That's one hefty sandwich!

Longest sandwich

Created by three teams in Beirut in 2011 the longest ever sandwich was 735m long. The sandwich was 12.5cm wide and the overall estimated weight was 577.03kg.

Most expensive sandwich commercially available

The 'Quintessential Grilled Cheese' sandwich is commercially available and priced US $214 at Serendipity 3 in New York.

Served on two slices of French Pullman champagne bread this sandwich contains edible gold flakes, white truffle butter and a rare expensive cheese.

Longest line of sandwiches

Three years ago in Nocilla, Spain 7790 sandwiches were lined up spanning a massive 3,865.78m. The sandwiches, which were filled with chocolate and hazelnut spread, were donated to a local food bank after the record attempt.

Earlier this year 2,586 people broke the record for most people making sandwiches simultaneously in Dallas, Texas.

Most peanut butter and jelly sandwiches eaten in one minute

In 2012 Patrick Bertoletti from the USA ate six peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in one minute.
