Christmas Drugs Warning

A mother teams up with our 'A Bitter Pill' campaign to warn, educate and hopefully prevent PMA deaths.

A mother who lost her son to the killer drug PMA is appealing to partygoers this Christmas to be aware of toxic pills and powders being sold on our streets.

As part of our 'A Bitter Pill' campaign we've teamed up with Hilary Bass, whose son Gary died in 2012. Whilst out with friends at an Ellesmere Port nightclub he took what he thought was ecstasy but unbeknown to him it contained the much stronger substance PMA. A few hours later he started to feel unwell and collapsed. Despite desperate attempts by his friends and paramedics to save his life he died. He was 23 years old.

At his inquest it was ruled it was the PMA that killed him and a verdict of 'Death by Misadventure' was recorded.

Since Gary's death there have been dozens more all linked to the same substance.

We recently discovered at least 3000 pills seized in Greater Manchester were in fact PMA, possibly being sold as Ecstasy.
