As part of our 'A Bitter Pill' campaign we spoke to Diana, whose daughter Serena died after taking MDMA.

Serena Harding was 16 years old and lived at home with her mum Diana and dad Kenny in Warrington.

Described as a sweet and caring teenager, Serena had been struggling with a stomach bug and had not been out and about much during the summer holidays 2011.

Noticing her daughter was feeling down Diana encouraged Serena to keep in contact with her friends on Facebook and was delighted to hear she had organised to go out with a friend who the family knew well. It was during that outing that the group she was with decided to buy some MDMA, a powdered form of ecstasy. Serena had never taken Ecstasy before. She later started to feel unwell and as they walked through Reddish Vale Park she collapsed and died.
