Man Dies At Kendal Calling Festival

One man has died, a woman from Bolton is critical but stable and three other men are in hospital with suspected drugs use.

Emergency services are dealing with an incident where five people have taken ill following believed substance abuse at the Kendal Calling festival.

Police were contacted by staff at the Cumberland Infirmary at 6.58am this morning (31st July) following concerns surrounding a male who had arrived in a critical condition.

Police can confirm that this male has been pronounced dead. An investigation has commenced into the circumstances surrounding his death. Police are supporting the deceased’s family at this time.

A further four people have been admitted to the Cumberland Infirmary. A 29 year old woman from Bolton is in a critical but stable condition. The other three people, all male, are described as being in a serious but stable condition. Next of kin enquiries are taking place for these four individuals.

Police have arrested a 20 year old man from Manchester on suspicion of possession with intent to supply. He is currently being detained for questioning.
