Last month we reported on the rumours that Instagram would be introducing a brand new feature, which would allow you to add a soundtrack to your Instagram Stories, and now it is finally here!

The rumour surrounding the new feature first emerged after TechCrunch did some digging and spotted some code hidden in the Android version of the app, which could give users the ability to add music stickers. The website revealed, these 'music stickers' could allow users to search for songs and add them to your Stories. Which could really improve Stories!

Now, just a few weeks later it seems that the rumours have come true and now, those with the latest version of the app can add music to their Instagram Stories, here's how...

1) Go as if you were going to add to your Story in the usual way.

2) Tap on the stickers icon and find the 'music sticker'.

3) Search for the track you want to add, you can search popular songs, moods, and genres.

4) Once you have selected a song you can then choose a particular part of it, whether you want the chorus, or a verse etc.

Another feature which has also been added to the popular image sharing app, is the ability to add music while you're recording the video. So, still in the Stories mode you can swipe to the left to the 'music' mode, there you can select a song which will play while you record video for your Story. Easy as that!

According to Digital Trends the addition of this new feature is thanks so Instagram's parent company Facebook signing a deal with Warner Music Group which allows users to share the music from the likes of Ed Sheeran and Coldplay.

This new change comes just a few weeks after it was revealed that Instagram would be bringing in two new features. You can read about them here.

Last month it was also revealed that they were to make a tiny change to the way likes were shown, however this has yet to be rolled out everywhere.
