A woman has died after being involved in a collision with a heavy goods vehicle in Gainsborough.

Officers were first called to the scene on Lea Road in the centre of the town just before 10:45 a.m. on Saturday (April 20th).

Emergency services attended the scene, where they found a woman in her 90s who required immediate medical treatment.

Shortly after the collision, the pedestrian was taken to hospital for medical assessment by an air-ambulance with "potentially life-threatening injuries".

Officers launched an investigation into the incident, with no arrests made. The road was re-opened to the public on Saturday evening.

However, following the collision, which took place close to the B&Q in the town, police issued an update the woman had died.

Currently, no arrests have been made still, but investigations are still ongoing and the force are continuing to appeal for witnesses.

Anyone who may have seen the incident take place or has dashcam or CCTV footage of the area at the time of the collision is being urged to get in touch with the force as soon as possible.

As well as these, anyone who might have any relevant information pertaining to the case is also being asked to speak to investigators as they try to piece together how the incident came to be.

Those who want to get in touch with the police can do so by calling 101 and quoting incident reference number 137 from April 20th.
