Now that February has rolled around have you stuck to your New Year's resolutions? If you're in need of a little motivate, hope is on the horizon with the new date for the Great Manchester Run. Whether you’ve committed to a resolution or you just want to fly out of the starting blocks, the key to staying motivated and achieving what you set out to, is to set yourself a realistic goal. That’s where Great Run can help!

The Great Manchester Run is an annual fixture in the calendar, a marker point for Mancunians to reach their peak physical fitness. Each year tens of thousands line up on the start line, running for good causes, for PBs, for fun even!

Following the cancellation of the event in 2020, the good news is that the event is scheduled to go ahead in 2021. However, the pandemic has forced the organisers to make a change in 2021 – the event has moved from its usual May date and is now scheduled for Sunday 26 September.

Experience a running event like no other on the streets of Manchester and remember, no matter how you get to the start-line, the North West runs together.

Entries for 2021 are now open, so secure your place now for September's event.

Whether you take on the famous 10K, or want to challenge yourself with the half marathon taking in the iconic sights of Manchester including the Etihad Stadium and Old Trafford, everyone is welcome.

The Junior & Mini Great Manchester Run is a must-do event for budding runners, give your children the chance to experience their own finish line moment as they enjoy the cheers from the crowds and the atmosphere of the Great Manchester Run.

Hits Radio will be there to cheer you along and provide a motivating soundtrack to help you put one foot in front of the others.

Great Run Solo

With the event moved from its usual May date to September, there’s a noticeable gap in the diary. However, Great Run have created a series of virtual running challenges to help you start the year strong, and build your fitness for the start line in September.

Run Away from 2020

To firmly put 2020 behind us, the January Great Run Solo Accumulator encourages you to RUN AWAY FROM 2020! The challenge is to complete 21 activities of any distance in January – it’s a challenge for all abilities that celebrates all activity. Walk, jog, run, or do a mix of everything, it all counts.

Complete 21 activities or more and your efforts will be rewarded with a snazzy 2 in 1 medal. The challenge starts on 1 January and ends on 31 January, and you can join the challenge anytime from now up to Monday 11 January at 10am, when entries close, so challenge yourself now.

Pick Your Distance

The Great Run Solo Distance Challenge is designed to keep you racking up the miles over a 7 or 28 day period. Choose from 7 miles, 50k, 100k or 150k, reach or exceed the distance across the challenge period, and your efforts will be rewarded with an awesome medal. With a range of distances to choose from, there is a challenge for everyone. Start clocking up the miles now.

Be Your Greatest In 2021!

Now more than ever we need to prioritise our mental and physical health by staying active and supporting others. Although Manchester’s running calendar looks a bit different, it’s still set to be a great year of running!
