Three men have been jailed after an £800,000 cannabis farm was found in Tameside.

On Wednesday 8 July 2015 officers from the Tameside Organised Crime Disruption Team raided a former commercial unit on Stockport Road in Ashton-Under-Lyne.

They discovered an industrial sized cannabis farm, that contained over 4000 plants, and was valued to have an estimated yield of over £800,000.

34 year old Long Van Nguyen, 37 year old Le Quang, and 30 year old Le Truong, all of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to the production of cannabis at an earlier hearing.

On Monday 5 October 2015 they were sentenced at Manchester Crown Court.

They were each sentenced to three years and six months in prison and were made the subject of an automatic deportation under S32 of the UK Borders Act.

Detective Inspector Andrew Sandiford of the Tameside Organised Crime Disruption Team said:

“This is one of the largest cannabis farms to have ever been found by Greater Manchester Police.

“Cultivating and supplying drugs and its associated activity is a blight on our communities and today’s sentence reflects the work we are doing to crack down on this and bring those responsible for such crimes to justice.

“We will continue to act on information from the public and work with partners to dismantle organised crime of all kinds.”
