Over one and a half million pounds worth of counterfeit goods have been recovered following warrants in north Manchester On Tuesday 29 September 2015, 14 shops were raided in the Strangeways area as part of Operation Rogue Trader. During the raids, counterfeit clothing, handbags, beauty products and jewellery were recovered. No arrests have been made but further inquiries are ongoing. Police Sergeant Darren Thomason said: "The warrants executed today are seen as part of a large scale multi agency approach in combating those dealing in counterfeit goods. These practises have a far reaching impact on many facets of people's lives. “The Strangeways area is one of the largest counterfeit goods suppliers in the UK and the sale of such products has a huge impact on the local tax payer and businesses. Today we send a message that these will no longer be tolerated.” Anyone with information should phone police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
