Factory nightclub in Manchester has had its licence suspended after a number of bouncers were filmed attacking two teenagers.

18-year-old Joe Sharratt is recovering in hospital following the mass brawl in the early hours of Sunday.

The St Helens rugby league player was left with a bleed on the brain.

Today, a Council hearing was told dozens of assaults have taken place at Factory 251 on Princess Street over the last 12 months - but hardly any were reported to police by staff.

Manchester City Council's Licensing Committee have decided to temporarily revoke the club's licence whilst a full review is carried out by the 31st December.

Executive member for Neighbourhoods Councillor Rabnawaz Akbar previously said, “The footage we have all seen is nothing short of sickening.

“The thoughts of the council, and I am sure all of Manchester are wholly with the injured Joe Sharratt, and we wish him a speedy recovery.

“This is not the Manchester I know and does not reflect on its great nightlife, nor the hundreds of door staff who work in the city centre.

“The licensing committee has a wide range of powers and sanctions it can utilise to protect the public, up to and including the temporary or permanent revocation of a venue’s licence.

“Any action the council takes... will precede a full review into the venue’s licence which will take place within 28 working days".
