Tests undertaken on pills three Bury teenagers had taken thinking they were ecstasy reveal they contain an extremely high dose of hallucinogens.

The Greater Manchester Drug Early Warning System, an online network of frontline staff from police, health, prison service and others agencies, allows participants to share dangerous and emerging drug trends in their local area.

Now, they've released a warning about the cream tablets with the letters 'UPS' on them, saying they contain up 8 times a normally strong amount of hallucinogen Alpha-PVP.

It's after three teenagers ended up in hospital after it's thought they took the drugs, with one left in an induced coma.

The poster warns the boys - two aged 15 and one aged 14 - experienced symptoms of "psychosis, distress; severe paranoia" that lasted 20 hours.

Other symptoms Alpha-PVP may cause are listed as "racing heart rate, agitation, high blood pressure, hallucinations and delirium".

All three boys (one aged 14 and two aged 15) who were admitted to hospital on Thursday are now in a stable condition. One of the teenagers, who was initially arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply drugs, has been de-arrested.

Two other people - a 40 year old woman and 21 year old man - have been arrested in connection with the incident and have since been bailed.
