'Serious incident' shuts main road in South Manchester

A main road in South Manchester remains closed this morning as police deal with a serious incident.

Kingsway has been closed since the early hours of this morning, with emergency services called to the scene before 4.30am. A stretch of the road between Parrs Wood Lane and Queensway has been closed since.

A coach and a Mercedes car can be seen within the cordon, and forensic officers in white suits have been taking pictures with yellow evidence markers dotted across the road.

The closure this morning has led to heavy traffic and queues in the surrounding areas.

Greater Manchester Police tell us it's a serious incident, we're waiting for a further update from the force.
