The father of a two-year-old boy who was killed when a gas explosion ripped through his home in Shaw has dug the first bit of ground for a memorial park in his son's memory.

Jamie Heaton was watching TV when the blast ripped through a number of houses on Buckley Street in Shaw on June 26th 2012.

Andrew Partington, 27, who lived next door, later admitted manslaughter and was jailed for 10 years.

Now, over three years on, and work is getting underway on a new play area in Bullcote Park, Heyside, where Jamie took his first steps.

Our Chief Reporter Michelle Livesey's been speaking to Jamie's dad Kenny:

Jamie's Something Special Appeal was set up in the hope of raising £50,000.

So far they've raised £35k and counting.
