Laughing gas seized in Stockport

Police confiscate cannisters.

Published 24th May 2016

A large amount of used nitrous oxide canisters have been found on the open field by Reddish Vale High School.

This is an extremely large amount of used canisters and parents who know that their children could potentially frequent this area with their friends should be very concerned.

The gas inside of these canisters which is also known as Laughing Gas can be potentially fatal.

When used in medicine, it is mixed with oxygen to make sure that the gas doesn't cause nerve or brain damage.

When used recreationally such as this, the inhalation of this gas causes 'hypoxia' which basically means that your child would be starving their brain and body of oxygen causing a number of medical issues.

Seventeen people in the UK died between 2006 and 2012 after taking the drug. Don't let your child be the next!

If you know your child uses these or you find similar canisters on them, then please do warn them of the dangers and report where they got them from.

If you see anyone selling these canisters either in a shop or personally then please do call the council and report to trading standards. The more information we receive, the more action we can take.
