Man charged following violent robberies in Salford and Prestwich

Police have charged a 46-year-old man after two violent robberies in Greater Manchester.

The incidents, in Salford and Prestwich last week, saw two women terrorised in their own homes, bound by their hands and feet and forced to hand over their bank cards.

Gary Spilsbury, of Bury New Road in Salford, is being held on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

The incidents took place on York Avenue, Prestwich and Bury New Road, Salford on Monday 30th September and Wednesday 2nd October.

Spilsbury has also been charged with two previous burglaries at different addresses in Albert Avenue, Bury and Bury New Road, Salford on Saturday 21st September and Wednesday 2nd October respectively, as well as two counts of fraud.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court today.
