Former Thomas Cook employees will attend a major jobs fair at Manchester Airport today to help those affected by the firm's collapse last month.

Over 5,000 roles will be advertised as part of a major recruitment drive in getting over 9,000 people back into work.

The jobs fair is set to offer thousands of jobs as well as work-related advice, support on claiming redundancy pay outs and training opportunities.

Transport for Greater Manchester are offering all former staff free transport to the airport via bus, train and tram, financed by Manchester Airport.

Thomas Cook ceased trading in September after talks to secure a deal to keep the business going, failed. Over 150,000 holidaymakers had to be repatriated by the CAA as a result.

This was the biggest peacetime repatriation in UK history.

Nearly all of those left stranded abroad are now thought to be back in the UK.
