Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has launched an appeal to help the homeless population over Christmas.

Together with Selfridges, Rashford is hoping to make a difference in his home city...

The campaign asks people to fill a shoe box with basic essentials like gloves, a toothbrush, roll-on deodorant and hand sanitizer before dropping it off at Selfridges on Exchange Square in the city centre.

A message has also been posted on Rashford's website: "Last Christmas I prepared and delivered some gifting boxes around Manchester for those in need, with the help of my family.

"It was one of the most gratifying moments of the year so when planning activity this time around I was adamant that we would reach more people in a more effective way.

"I'm extremely proud of where I'm from, I love this city and appreciate all the support the city has given me over the years so this is my opportunity to help out those that might not otherwise have the best Christmas.

"I'm hoping lots of people will want to get involved too so we can make a real impact together."
