Stockport actress Michelle Keegan's hoping to end the stigma surrounding cervical cancer smear tests - after she video blogged her experience on social media.

In a post - that's been liked more than 100 thousand times - the former Coronation Street star admitted she's ignored loads of letters from doctors, but finally bit the bullet and went this weekend.

The 31 year old calls the process "really quick, really easy" - and reassures followers that it's not painful.

It comes as new stats show the number of women going for the checks has dropped to a 20 year low.

Cancer charities have praised Keegan for bringing the issue to her 3.7 million followers - and showing it's not a scary prospect.
