New Moston man jailed for drug offences

A man's been jailed after drugs worth over £15,000 were seized from his home by police in New Moston. David Wilson of Blueberry Avenue, New Moston pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. Today he appeared at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square, where he was sentenced to four years and three months in prison. On 13 November 2015 officers from the City of Manchester team’s Challenger Unit executed a warrant at Wilson’s home in New Moston. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis and recalled to prison for failing to comply with the terms of his license. Officers searched the property and seized heroin and crack cocaine, along with electronic scales and numerous mobile phones. The drugs were later valued at a street value of over £15,000.
Detective Sergeant Andy Buckthorpe of GMP’s City of Manchester team said: “I hope that the sentence passed here today will send a clear message that we remain very much active in our fight to take drugs off our streets.
“We will relentlessly pursue and dismantle organised crime groups. These crime groups make vast sums of money dealing Class A drugs and the knock-on effect causes misery in our community.
