Shortly after 9.30am on Monday 5 February 2018 police were called to reports that the body of a man had been found near to Bridgewater Avenue.

Enquiries into the man’s death led officers to believe there were no suspicious circumstances and a file was passed to the coroner.

A Home Office Post Mortem examination took place however, the results came back as unascertained so officers have re-launched an investigation into his death.

The man, who has been formally identified as 30-year-old Karl Englemark, had been reported missing to police from his home in North Manchester on Thursday 1 February.

On Friday 2 February, he checked into the Hilton Hotel on Deansgate around 5.30pm and left approximately 10.30pm that evening.

He was not seen again until his body was discovered on a building site in Bolton on Monday 5 February.

Officers investigating the death are trying to trace his movements to find out exactly what happened to him.

Detective Inspector Steph Parker of GMP’s Bolton Borough, said: “Sadly, Karl’s family do not yet know the events that led to his death, which is something we are hoping to find out for them.

“We need to know how and why Karl travelled to Bolton, so we’re trying to track his movements between 2 February and 5 February and I’m asking the public to help me do this.

“We know that Karl may have been chatting to members of the public on his travels so I want people to really study the image we’ve released of him and get in touch with us if you remember speaking to him – what you spoke about could help us find out what happened to him.

“Whatever information you have, please let us know so we can give his family the answers they deserve.”
