Police confirm a man's body was found in car explosion in Trafford

It's believed the car exploded last night.

Crime Scene Investigators are in Trafford this morning after a body was found in a burnt out car, shortly after it exploded.

Police have confirmed the victim is a man.

The car was on fire when emergency services arrived on Cross Lane in Partington just before 8pm on Wednesday.

An investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Inspector Peter Coates, of GMP’s Trafford borough, said: “We were called to reports of a car explosion and on attendance emergency services found a body in the car.

“We are still unclear on exactly what has happened however we will be carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding this person’s death.

“I would ask that anybody who thinks they may have information that can assist our enquiries contacts the police.”
