Police have launched an investigation after an armed robbery at a shop in Salford.

At around 9:10pm on Monday , three men wearing balaclavas and carrying crowbars went into the Spar on Seaford Road on Salford.

They approached the counter and forced open four tills in the store before stealing a quantity of cash and cigarettes.

The trio then left the store and got into a black VW Golf which was driven away by a fourth man who had been waiting outside throughout the robbery.

The car was seen driving along Seaford Road before turning left onto Frederick Road.

The offenders are all described as white men in the early 20s wearing full face balaclavas, black jackets and grey jogging bottoms. They spoke with local accents and were carrying orange crowbars.

Detective Constable Andrew Quinn of GMP’s Salford Borough said: “This robbery took place when the shop was very busy and no doubt the very nature of the offense would have struck fear into all those inside.

“Such a serious offence should not be able to take place without those involved being held accountable and we would like to appeal to the public for their help.

“If you have seen this robbery take place or have seen the car that was involved in the nearby area just prior to or after the incident then please contact police.”
