Shocking CCTV shows robbers in Stretford douse newsagent with fire extinguisher

Three men went into the newsagents on Davyhulme Road East - and left with a quantity of cigarettes

Police are appealing for witnesses after robbers in Stretford doused a man in his 50s with a fire extinguisher.

Three men went into the newsagents on Davyhulme Road East at around 6.50am on Thursday 14th February, attacked the man in there, and left only with packets of cigarettes.

One man is described as black with large afro black hair. He was wearing a black North Face jacket with fur on the hood and a dark hoodie underneath. He also wore black tracksuit bottoms with light and dark coloured trainers.

The second man was white, with a large build. He was described as wearing dark clothing.

The third man wore a grey hooded jumper with a black coat over the top. He is described as wearing grey tracksuit bottoms.

Detective Constable Clare Greevy, of GMP’s Trafford district, said: “This was a cowardly crime whereby an innocent member of the public was subject to a horrific ordeal – simply while trying to make an honest living.

“I would ask the public to take a good look at the CCTV and get in touch with police if you have any information that they think could assist our enquiries.”
