Detectives are appealing for witnesses after shots were fired in Fallowfield.

Shortly before 3.40am on Tuesday 4 June 2019, police were called to reports that shots had been fired at a property and a car on Slade Lane.

Witnesses reported seeing three men approach the property before firing a handgun and fleeing down an alleyway towards Stockport Road.

Firearms officers attended and a scene remains in place.

Slade Road is currently closed at the junction with Old Hall Lane and Park Grove.

No-one was injured and enquiries are ongoing.

Superintendent Ian Crewe, of GMP’s City of Manchester division, said: “I understand the concern that incidents like this cause in our communities but I want to reassure you that we believe this to be an isolated incident and have a team of detectives working hard to piece together the circumstances surrounding this shooting.

We understand from witnesses that the trio were all wearing dark clothing. They fled prior to police arrival and we would urge anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area to get in touch as soon as possible.

You will see an increased police presence in the area throughout the coming days to support the public and these officers will assist with any queries or concerns you may have in any way they can.”

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 4436 quoting incident number 257 of 04/06/2019, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
