Tributes pour in for 19-year-old from Manchester: after body found in canal

The family and friends of a West Didsbury teenager found dead in a Manchester canal have been paying tribute on social media.

Formal identification hasn't taken place yet, but officers say they believe it is the missing teenager.

His family have been informed.

Charlie Pope was last seen in Manchester city centre early on Thursday morning after leaving a club.

The last sighting was on Whitworth Street in the early hours.

The teenager was in his first year at the University of Manchester, originally from the North East.

A spokesperson from the University said: "We are all very saddened to hear this tragic news and the University will be providing any support and assistance we can to Charlie's friends‎ and family."

There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
