Two people are recovering in hospital after a brawl outside a nightclub in Salford on Boxing Day

At around 5am on Tuesday 27 December 2016, police were called to Bijou Nightclub on Chapel Street following reports of a disturbance involving a number of people.

Officers attended and found a 25-year-old man with a head injury and a woman with a hand injury. Both were taken to MRI and remain at the hospital for treatment.

One man, aged 26, was arrested near the scene on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and is currently in custody.

Superintendent Mark Kenny said: “We are trying to clarify exactly what happened in the early hours of this morning outside Bijou nightclub, hence why we are appealing for people who may have been witnessed this disturbance to come forward."

“Thankfully none of the injuries suffered were life threatening, but two people remain in hospital as a result."

“We believe that two men had been fighting and the woman was trying to separate them when she sustained her hand injury."

“If you were outside or nearby Bijou at the time of the disturbance, please contact police as soon as possible.”
