There's a warning to pet owners in Rochdale after a spate of cat shooting.

At least 6 animals have been targeted near the Newhey Metrolink stop since last month.

Newhey councillor Andy Kelly says he received reports from vets that they'd had several cats who had been shot - the most serious being a cat called Macy who lost an eye after being shot in the face.

When Andy Kelly posted on Facebook asking for information - more people came forward saying their cats had been attacked too.

It's believed they've all been injured with a high-powered air rifle.

Several cats have also disappeared in the past few weeks and Cllr Andy Kelly believes they may be linked to the shootings.

The incidents are being investigated by both Greater Manchester Police and the RSPCA. They're appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
