Warnings Over Bogus Charity Worker In Chadderton

Published 8th Oct 2015

Police are warning the public of a woman posing as a bogus charity worker in Chadderton.

On three separate incidents between Monday the 5th of October and Tuesday the 6th of October 2015, a woman claiming to be working for a children’s charity, knocked on doors of homes in Coleshaw Green Road and Mora Avenue.

She has asked whether she could use the homeowner’s bathroom, and each time she’s been turned away and nothing has been stolen.

The woman is described as being white, in her 20s, with a slim build, blonde hair, and wore a brown coat and spoke with an Irish or eastern European accent.

Police Sergeant Paul Archer said:

“Thankfully, each of the homeowners have been suspicious of the woman and have not let her in. Every time she has claimed she wanted to use the bathroom and has not had any identification to show.

“We believe, given the opportunity, if the woman is allowed into someone’s home, she will steal property. If you have seen this woman in the local area or believe she has knocked on your door, I would ask you to contact police as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should phone police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
