Police in Greater Manchester are appealing for witnesses after a woman was knocked unconscious whilst walking through Piccadilly Gardens.

At around 8.15pm on Tuesday 11th April a 20-year-old woman was walking through Piccadilly Gardens when a man ran into her and knocked her to the floor. She banged her head and was knocked unconscious, the man continued running and did not check on her.

Police have now released CCTV of the incident and are hoping the public may be able to identify the running man.

Police are also appealing for the people who witnessed the incident and are seen approaching the woman in the CCTV, to get in touch.

Sergeant Jacob Hunt from GMP’s City Centre Team said: “Luckily the woman has suffered no lasting injuries, but this could have been so much worse. She was minding her own business just walking through Piccadilly Gardens.

“The CCTV clearly shows the incident, but it is difficult to work out who was involved and who was trying to help the woman.

“This is why we are keen to speak to anyone who features in the CCTV so we can give the woman some answers.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 6107 alternatively contact 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
