The charity was initially set up to distribute money donated to victims and survivors of the Manchester Arena attack.

Figures from the fund’s annual report show that 95% of the £21.4m donated has now been distributed or allocated to survivors of the attack and families of the bereaved.

The fund has been distributed in several ways. For instance, cash gifts to help those injured, and setting up psychological support groups.

The majority of the Fund has now been allocated and there is only £750,000 left to allocate.

The trustees will be taking advice from medical professionals to see how they can best help the most seriously injured by this attack. This process may take some months.

Edith Conn OBE, Chair of the trustees of the Fund, said: “The generosity and solidarity shown by the public in the wake of the Manchester Arena terror attack was truly inspiring.”

The annual report coincides with the release of the independent review into the workings of the charity.

Edith said that the independent review was commissioned to help others understand the processes of the fund.

She added that: “The fund, was never intended as a permanent charity, but as an urgent response to people’s immediate needs. While its work will continue for some time, as people's grief, injuries and trauma are ongoing, the time has arrived when the charity’s work is able to start being scaled down.
