Emergency services were called to Manchester Road in Bolton just after 7pm on Saturday (12 September 2021) after a grey Vauxhall Astra failed to stop for officers and collided with another vehicle just seconds into it being pursued.

The Astra was in collision with a blue Vauxhall Meriva and a woman in her 40s from the vehicle suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital where she remains.

A man in the Astra made off from the scene on foot and officers are appealing for anyone with information or anyone who may have seen him to get in touch.

The incident has been referred to GMP's Professional Standards Branch in line with normal procedure.

Inspector Jonathan Shilvock, from GMP's Roads Policing Unit, said: "This collision has left a woman with serious injuries in hospital and our thoughts remain with her whilst she makes a recovery.

"We're working to find a man who was suspected to have been driving the Astra. There may have been a number of people who witnessed the collision or saw the man make off and we'd ask those people to come forward and speak to us."
