The family of a 17-year-old boy who was stabbed to death in Hale Barns are set to launch a campaign in his memory at a knife crime summit in Manchester.

Yousef Makki died from a single stab wound to the heart back in March and 18 year old Joshua Molnar was cleared of his murder and manslaughter following a our week trial earlier this year.

A candlelit vigil will be held at 6pm in Manchester Cathedral to remember those who've died as a result of increasing knife crime in the city, but to also show support and solidarity to the families of those who have been taken as a consequence of such violence.

Yousef's mum, Debbie, will bravely take to the stage in front of hundreds of people tonight (15th October) to talk about how her son's death has affected the family and to officially launch 'Justice for Yousef' crowdfunding campaign.

Following the four week trial at Manchester Crown Court, the jury returned a verdict of ‘not guilty’ in relation to murder and manslaughter charges against ‘Boy A’ and ‘Boy B’ - the two friends who were present during Yousef’s death.

The family of Yousef Makki now wish to instruct legal professionals to investigate the opportunity to put forward a civil case in relation to Yousef's death. To do so, the family needs to raise £100,000.00, with a minimum £20,000 required to secure the court transcripts from the criminal trial, alone.

The campaign, ‘Justice for Yousef’, will be officially launched to the public on Tuesday 15th October at 6pm at Manchester Cathedral.
